Tri-nation series: Sri Lanka take on Zimbabwe Wednesday

Chandika Hathurusingha’s new-look Sri Lanka will start their campaign in the tri-nation ODI series taking on Zimbabwe on Wednesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.


The day-night basis match of the series will kick off at 12 noon (Bangladesh time). Zimbabwe beat hosts Sri Lanka on the home soil to win the last ODI series.

Bangladesh got off to a flying start in the tri-nation ODI series crushing Zimbabwe by eight wickets in the opener at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.


The Tigers chased down a target of 171 runs for 2 in 28.3 overs where dashing opener Tamim Iqbal scored unbeaten 84 off 93, including eight boundaries and one six, sharing two partnerships of 78 off 15.1 overs and unbeaten 63 off 9.2 overs in the 2nd and 3rd wicket stands.

Bangladesh squad announced for Tri-series

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad to play against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in tri -nation series in Dhaka.


BCB Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu came up with the announcement at a media briefing in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.


Anamul Haque, Sunzamul Islam and Mohammad Mithun have returned to the Bangladesh team while Pacer Taskin Ahmed and opener Soumya Sarker have been taken out from the series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe .

Bangladesh top-order batsman Sabbir Rahman has been stripped off his Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) central contract for assaulting a cricket fan during a 19th National Cricket League (NCL) match.


He has also been banned for six months from domestic cricket and fined Tk 20 lakh ($25,000 approximately) as he was found guilty for breaching the BCB’s code of conduct level-4.

Bangladesh girls have clinched the first-ever SAFF U-15 Championship by beating India 1-0.


The hosts remained unbeaten, conceding no goals during the tournament. After crushing Nepal 6-0 in their first match, the girls beat Bhutan 3-0 and India 3-0 in the run up to the finals.

Bangladesh played aggressively from kickoff at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Sunday. In the sixth minute a header from Anuching Mogini flew just over the crossbar.
